Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research Centennial Parade Concept Art

Clients:

In 2020, the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research (IIHR) at the University of Iowa was to be celebrating their centennial with a large water parade on the Iowa River that passes by the campus just off the lawn from their historic Hancher Auditorium. I worked as part of a team of concept artists along with Kansas City’s Quixotic Dance Company to design a series of hydrodynamic floating sculptural platforms which would make up the parade in the river. Each float would be manned by dancers from the dance company, and would feature different forms of kinetic motion all themed around ideas of “flow”.
